The ChessNuts Championship Finals are scheduled on November 27, 2010. To participate in the Finals, players must qualify by earning an invitation in one of the qualifying events held throughout the year at the club. Entry fee for the Finals is $2. The Finals will be USCF rated, but the quailifying events will not, so players must be USCF members in good standing in order to play in the championship Finals. NDCA membership is also required for the Finals. Please bring proof of memberships or be prepared to purchase them during registration. On Site Registration: Players may register on site from 8:00pm until 8:30pm. EF: $10.00 - Please bring a personal check (payable to Brian Thompson) for the exact amount, or have correct change ready. Format: Round Robin, with the number of rounds determined by entries. If over eight entries, the field may be split into smaller sections, based on club rating. All players will report game results by submitting a complete, signed scoresheet to the TD. Time Control: Game/45, with 5 second delay. Schedule: One round will be scheduled per week. All games must be contested at the normal meeting of the ChessNuts Chess Club. Entrants will be permitted to play one additional round per week to allow for flexible scheduling. Missed games will be counted as forfeit losses if not completed during the next regular meeting of the ChessNuts Club, or special arrangement made with the TD. All games for the qualifying event must be completed on the final week of the schedule. Weeks that the ChessNuts Club does not meet are not counted toward the tournament schedule. Prizes: Prize fund will be 90% of entry fees, with at least half used for the Q3 event and the remainder reserved for the Final Event prize fund. Four sections: High School (grades 10-12), Junior High (grades 7-9), Middle School (grades 4-6), and Primary School (grades K-3). Entry Fee: High School and Junior High: $15 per player. Middle School and Primary: $10 per player. To Pre-register: SEND NO MONEY, just information! Pre-registered players must pay their fees at the registration desk by 10:30am the morning of the tournament. Players missing this deadline will not play the first round. Web Form: Preferred! Register on-line. On Site Registration: All Sections may register on site from 10:00am until 10:45am. Please bring a personal check payable to "NDCA" for the exact amount, or have correct change ready. Credit cards are not accepted. Schedule: Five rounds played at Game/30. Round 1 start time is 11am, later rounds will start based upon completion time of previous rounds. Anticipated start times for later rounds are:
Teams: Teams are formed by chess players in the same section and from the same school. Each team is represented by all of the students from their school, with the top four scores from the group used as the team score. If there are fewer than four players from a school, they may still form a team, but they will have fewer scores to pool for their team score. Pairings: Computer generated pairings. USCF swiss system pairing rules are applied in all sections, including provisions for combination individual/team events. For pairing purposes, a player's USCF rating will be used to determine their initial placement within their section.
