Chess Club will next meet Friday, February 10th. This will be round 5 of the 2012 QE1 Tournament .

The ChessNuts Chess Club meets on Friday nights at the downtown Fargo Subway from 8:00pm until midnight. Players are welcome to arrive later or leave earlier due to our informal and flexible meeting format. There are no fees or dues of any kind. Subway is a non-smoking establishment.

Players of all levels and ages are welcome. For players new to chess, instruction can be found in all aspects of the game including strategy, tactics, common openings, endgame themes, the use of a chess clock, and more. For more experienced players, our club features members with a wide range of abilities and interests enabling all players to find a competitive and enjoyable range of opponents.

New: Club ratings are now generated based on games played in a range of time controls, ranging from G/15, d3 (fastest) to G/45, d5 (slowest). Please see the Club Ratings page for a list of all players who have a ChessNuts Club Rating, and the Last Week page for a listing of the games that were rated from last week's ChessNuts Club meeting.

Tables are available for speed chess, PlunderChess™, and bughouse. Can't come to the ChessNuts Chess Club, but still want to learn more about chess? Check out my Classroom page. I've organized my suggestions of how to learn more about chess and how players of almost every level can improve their game. From books to software to web pages, I share the best tools I've discovered to help you play better chess. I own a copy of every book listed, personally use the software I recommend, visit and use the web pages that are listed on this site. I use these resources for my own development and recommend them to the members of the ChessNuts Chess Club.

It teaches you to look for key patterns within positions in your own games! You actually start using the test material as you play, making you a better player and getting better results! Because I believe that Chessimo is the best chess training tool available, I've made it an integral component of my Chess Improvement Classroom.
